Funny coincidence

When i was working in the restaurant Monday night i served a man from Australia. As i love speaking to people from other countries i talked to him more then i would normally do. We talked about Australia, New Zealand and Sweden. Then when i asked what brought him to Lycksele he sad he worked for a mine company. I asked which one and he said Dragon mining. I asked if he knew Chris and he toled me he'd been spending some time with him earlier during the day. He was very nice and asked me alot of things. Then when i talked to Chris in the evening he toled me the man was actually the big CEO of Dragon mining and the one in charge of many mines in different countries. Pretty cool, right?!

Waking up. Driving to work. Work in the breakfast from 07:45 - 12:45. Change clothes. Eat. Drive 5 min. Work from 13:00 - 18:30 at Lindex. Grocery shopping. Making food. Making phone calls. filling out forms. Go to bed.
Have exactly the same hours today. Only change: i don't have the car today so i have to walk 15 min to and from the hotel. Also Chris is making food. Phew, then i have to pack for the trip tonight.

Birthday present

It was my friend Emma's brithday last Saturday and as i couldn't participate in the celebrations i send her a little collage of us. Pretty cute!

1 month left

It's exactly 1 month left until i start studying in Uppsala. I work for another 4 weeks until i leave around the 20th. I only knew Johanna in Uppsala a couple of days ago but i have been in contact with another girl who is going to start study pharmacy aswell and want to look for a bigger flat together. She is my age and seems really nice. Then when i had a coffee last Saturday with a girl from Lindex it turned out that she was going to start studying in Uppsala aswell. Her husband will be living in Lycksele so will probably travel togethet and such. 1 month left and i'm already making friends!

Sunday treatment

Rainy Sunday and both me and Chris are off work. He had to help a friend move and i had to call for some apartments and such. The lady which i was going to live with seems crazy. She want me to have paintings with angels in the room, have half the closet in the room filled with her clothes and the private bathroom and entrance in the advert turned out to be shared with 2 others. I'm so happy i didn't got to sign any contract yet!
Anyway i have had a bath in the bathtub for the first time and now it's tme for some Sunday ice cream and TV watching. Sometimes it's nice with bad weather!

Wire in the blood

Chris got a DVD box for christmas from my dad with all the seaons of wire in the blood. We are basicly wathing one episode a night right now. It's a British crime detective TV-show and the lead character is a shrink which can solve crimes because he understand how the killer is thinking. It's very adictive.

I'm eating my breakfast in the sun even though we don't have a balcony (the only bad thing about this apartment). The big windows we have in the living room works as a bolcony when i put a chair next to it. It also makes me be able to watch the news and use the computer. Love mornings and morning sun!

CHECK!

Yes! I have a place to live in Uppsala. It's one of the absolutely hardest cities in Sweden to get a place to live in as the number of students are pretty high. So having that sorted already feels extremely good. I sign up for every apartement queue, called on every add and even put up my own one and it paid off! I'm going to have my own room in a big flat in the city centre. It's an old lady, 2 other students and a cat i share with. They have a big garden which will be nice to use. It cost 4500 kr (included electricity, water and broadband) which is alot for a 20m2 room but i will get 1100kr from the government so it wont be that bad. Yeeey!

Strömstad!

We just bought our tickets home to Strömstad next week. One of my best friends, Johanna, is getting married in Grebbestad so me and Chris will take a few days of work to participate. I like Lycksele but i miss my Strömstad alot. I love the ocean and the granit cliffs and will always do.

Enjoying Lycksele

Pretty cute little city

I'm really starting to enjoy my life here in Lycksele. It took a while though. I'm really proud how i handled the whole work situation which was pretty bad for a while. After promissing me 40h a week in the restaurant on the interview they gave me 25h in the breakfast. I have now work at Lindex and in the restaurant a couple of nights of the week. I have also increased my salary at the hotell as i thought it was way too low. I did something instead of just sitting at home and complain. I know i was lucky with the Lindex job but still i went around looking for it.
I like this little town, it's growing on me. I love living with chris but also spending time on me own while he is working in the park with a book. I know i will be looking forward to come back here next summer.

Baby birds

There is a little park in Lycksele were i go sometimes after work to relax and read a book. It is so nice to lay there and watch all the baby ducks swim around in the ponds. I bought a loaf of bread today to feed them with. Os it weird i find things like that enjoyable?

There is no place to eat sushi in Lycksele so i made it on my own for the first time today. I wasn't expecting to much but it acctually turned out extremely well! Chris didn't dare me trying raw salmon so i made with crab sticks instead. Avaocado, cucumber, carrot but the key is getting the rice perfect sweet and sticky. This is something i absolutely will do in the future!

Photo weather

It's really beutiful weather here in Lycksele. It never gets as hot as down south (which hit 35 celcius last week) but it doesn't really rain or get cold either. It's been thunder storms and flooding down south the last couple of days. Who would have guessed Norrland could be so nice?! I love the evenings and the fact that it never gets dark here. These conditions are perfect for photography walks.

GOT IN!!!

I got admitted to the pharmacy program in Uppsala! I was abit worried because the system changed and they is basicly trying to make it harder to do like me; studying subjects after high school which wasn't in my orgininal program. I'm happy but suddenly abit nervous aswell. It's extremely hard to get an apartment in Uppsala. I'm also very nervous that my years of absence from school is going to make it harder for me then the rest of the students. Anyway i celebrated by buying a new dress and shoes and we're going out to eat on Thursday!

The making of the pie

It's been a gorgeous sunday in Lycksele and i've been laying in the park while Chris and some guys from work went climbing. We all decided to go Go Karting after which was fun (even though i was just a passenger to Chris). Chris had made some fantastic pizza's and i made a rhubarb pie for dessert. Then all 6 of us watched the world cup final. Good thing we just got our new furnitures. A really great Sunday!

On my way home from work

Walking home from work in the middle of the night and it's still bright. It's acctually bright 24h a day in Norrland. Chris has alot of problems sleeping but i love it. I am pretty tired now though. Worked breakfast 6:45am - 13:15 then in the restaurnt 17:00 - 24:00. I've been working 45h during the last 4 days but is off tomorrow. Soooo nice!

Recepies

I've really put effort in making nice, nutricios (fairly cheap) food for me and Chris since i've moved here. I get alot of recipies from different internet sites. I almost never follow them though instead i mix them with what we have, what i like, what i think would be better and what Chris stomach can handle. The sites i pick out recepies the most from is Arla and Tasteline. I've made all the ones on the photos and they've been great!

The fisher man in the boat, whom i see everyday when i walk to work, turned out to be a Lycksele statue. I was abit puzzled in the beginning about why he never moved to another place and how he could sit so still. Pretty cute thing though i must say.

I will get work now. Alot of work. That is though if my boss at the Lappland hotell doesn't decide to fire me for taking another job. He yelled so much at the guy who is in charge of the breakfast so he started crying and i have to do his job tomorrow. I have know idea how this will ends. Well i will work 7am - 13:30, eat, walk 15 min and work at the clothes shop between 14 - 18. God thing Chris knows how to cook aswell! Yummi chicken sallad!

On a walk yesterday

We got our couch and armchair today just in time for the world cup semi final. Chris friend helped us move it into the apartment and i made hamburgers as a thank you. Then suddenly a clothes store i visited yesterday to ask for job called. They need me as an extra worker starting tomorrow! I'm really happy about this and especially as i was feeling so angry about my other job. I actually really like this store which is a big chain all over Sweden. If i get a foot in maybe i'll be able to work extra during some weekends while studying.

What a mess!

Okey i really dislike my job. When i was at the interview 3 months ago i got the job as a waitress in the restaurant, working in the reception and extra in the breakfast buffet. I also got promised at least 40h/week.
Then what happened? First they didn't need me at all during the first two weeks. Then i only get work in the breakfast because some guy which was quiting working in the restaurant decided to get back (they didn't tell me that) and only about 5h each time i work. Working in a breakfast buffet isn't the same as working as a waitress. You carry food, dishes and clean. It's a slave job really. My boss is a fucking idiot. He comes in and screem at us. We are working as crazy and it's not our fault he brings in to few emplyees. The guy i work with today (which gonna have a nervous breakdown one of these days, the boss is often really angry with him) toled me i at least should be happy he didn't call me a hore. A HORE! Jeez if he would call me that i will sue him for sexual harassment. This is crazy town. My boss is dating the guy who interviewed me. There is at least 2 ex boyfrinds working there and an ex girlfriend. His 19-year old daughter is some kind of boss aswell and her boyfriend is the manager in the restaurant. It is also pretty common that the boss will fire you one day and call you the next day begging you back...
I was pretty mad today and toled my manager i'm going to get another job if i wont start working in the restaurant, get more hours and less hours in the breakfast. I think it helped.
But as my mum said this will make me stronger not excepting everything and question the authorities. I guess you can treet people like this in Norrland because everyone is so in a need for a job. This really makes me miss my old job at Skagerack and my old boss there which used to throw out the guests who whissled at us or called us bad names.

Free sunny day and a new dress

I was off work today. Acctually i went looking for a new job or a job on the side of the Lappland hotell. I get too few hours and i need money if i'm going to study for another year. I've been feeding duck babies as well. Thers is plenty of them in the park lake so i bought a loaf of bread to feed them with. I red in the park too because it was a beautiful warm day and to sit inside is a big no-no. Then i bought a blue dress on sale. I'm going to buy more dresses from now on.

Summer walk

Warm summer evenings is the best time for walks and photography. As I, for the moment, only work during mornings in the breakfast buffet i have the whole evening off to do this kind off things. Like wondering off with the camera.

Rhubarb cookies

I finnished work at 2pm and then we've been laying in the park soaking the sun. Chris has been cleaning the apartement as a nice surprise for me to get home to. Maybe he felt guilty after eaten all the rhubarb cookies i made yesterday for lunch =)
