First project...

The logo for my company vintage cars

My advertisement so far..

So our first project is on! We're going to create a name and logo for a car company which sells old style cars. The name of my company is vintage cars and my logo is both the name and the C and V together. We're also going to make an advertisement for it in a news paper and a magazine spread. This is superfun even though i think cars is not my strongest subject or have alot of knowledge about it...
The logo is made in Illustartor and the advertisement is made in InDesign. I'll put up the magazine spread when it's done!

Helvetica!

So this is what we do in school: spend 1,5h watching documentaries about one single font.
Well Helvetica is probably the most used font in this business. Basicly it's used everywhere; on any kind of signs really, logos, headlines for magazines...
I think this is very interesting even though some of the "font experts" seemes to refer to it as some kind of drug:
"we used to be addicted....but not so bad anymore..."
I had no idea this was such a big deal in this business but i'm willing to learn.

Graffiti

My dad payed me a visit this weekend. He was on his way home from Stockholm and decided to stop over and see how i lived. He wasn't familiar with Norrköping so i showed him around the city. We had coffee at my favourite café, went to museums and ate at a fantastic meal at a tapas-restaurant. I think we've been walking every street there is ti walk here. Over all; a good really good and pleasant weekend.

New places new faces

Elsa and Erik

I love getting to a new place without knowing anyone and then suddenly realize that i've build a new socail network. I have already made some beautiful friends here in Norrköping.
As we had this week "off" i decided to visit Elsa, a girl in my class who lives about 1h from Norrköping in a city called Mjölby. Elsa lives there because her boyfriend work just near by, which means she is travelling about 2h everyday just to get to school.
Guess what we did on our time off school: study! But this study was making a logo for a car dealarship company, retouch car photos, an ad for a newspaper and a magazin spread. I can't believe this is schoolwork! It's so much fun doing this together, time just flies...

Thinking of Tibet..

Potala, the central monastery in Lhasa

Lhasa

Prayer flags and prayer cards

Monks painting a monastery

Prayer wheels

Tibetan woman

So my brother's travel continue and he is for the moment in Tibet. I think it was about 2 years ago me and Chris visited that very special and original place on earth. I want to call it a country but as it is a part of China now and probably always will be i have to call it a Chinese province. Chris ones toled me that every country you visit you'll feel a special connection to and everytime you here it on the news etc you'll listen extra carefully. Tibet will always bring up emotions for me and i feel very strong for the people living there.
Not only did me and Chris sneak in illegally from the west, a place tourists rarely get to, but we did it on a bus going from 1200m above sealevel to 5400m. For those of you who've never herd of altitude sickness, i'll tell you this is risking your life big time. Well we didn't know by the time and if we did we would probably never have done it.
Well Tibet was amazing! I've never seen such blue sky or clear lakes. Tibetans are one of the friendliest people i've ever met. I think it's impossible to travel in this country without getting very emotional. Everywere you go you'll see ruins of monasteries destoyed by the Chinese government. You can't help but notice that the Tibetan culture slowly is dying and the Chinese is taking over. You'll hear horrible stories allong the way about Tibetan munks getting beaten up by Chinese police, Tibetans getting shot when they trying to escape to India...
It's so sad because they have such a beautiful religion and even though you're just a tourist walking around the "kora" or spinning the prayer wheels they smile to you; your a friend even though you don't believe in the same things.

I really hope i will go there someday again. I'm just scared there wont be any Tibet left at that time..

(I haven't got any photos from the west on this computer so the ones above are only from Lhasa and around.)

Over and out

I know i wrote here earlier that i've done my first exam. Well really i had my first exam today, the last one was more of a test. This exam was the final for this course which means i've finished my first university course!
10 days of more or less of study is over and the exam was pretty easy. 3 books and 4 questions and you feel like you know so much more than the exam showes...
Well it's acctually been fun studying as we've been a group discussing and sharing knowledge every second day. Had Susanne and Fanny over on Saturday night (!) allong with tons of candy and i think we were discussing until 2,30am.

I'm off school for a week now but i'm not leaving Norrköping. My dad is visiting on Saturday so i'm staying to show him around this beautiful city!

Does it have to get much colder then this...

Tree next to my appartement complex

I think my absence from Sweden has made me forget how cold it can acctually get here. It's indeed autumn right now, the leaves are changing color and it's getting darker earlier. But does it really have to be that cold already?! I think i have to wear snowboard gear everyday when the winter finally gets here...
And my skin is constantly dry, i've totally forgotten how addicted you become to moisturizer in this country...
Well it's pretty, no one can think otherwise and i guess i should enjoy the climate now, because it's gonna get worse...

Wednesday celebration

A happy 22 year old Fanny

yum...

Helen and Madde seemed to like it..

We had 2 reasons to celebrate yesterday. One - we finished our first university exam and two - Fanny became a year older. 10 people, 2 cakes, popcorn and wine on 24 square metres! The plan was to hit a bar or nightclub later on but Fanny's new "intimate question cards" kept us busy laughing and discussing the whole evening through...

Walk in the colors of autumn

Yellow and orange building - all over Norrköping

Perfect running track...

Chestnut / Fanny

Almost like the bridges painted by Monet

Another yellow building..

Me and Fanny took a break from studying and went for a walk. Norrköping is a beautiful city and especially right now when all the leaves and trees are painted in yellow, orange and red. Better enjoy it while we can; soon it'll be gone and the grey, damp coldness will take over...

First exam is coming up...

Papers all over...

Studying with Susanne...

So, my first university exam is coming up on Wednesday and my brain is cramed right now with words like ICC-profile, CIE lab, Postscript, Opentype....Me and couple of friends from school has been meeting up every second day for discussing things we've never herd off (which is pretty much everything), helping and pushing eachother. It's been great and it really feels like we're in this together, wanting everyone to succeed.
I've bought a membership card for taking gym classes and i've just been at my first class. Exercising really does make the studying alot easier. When the body is happy, the brain can work alot better=)
